Dec. 30, 1869 - Humourist Stephen Leacock born.


Jan. 17, 1880 - Mack Sennett, legendary founder of Keystone Studios, creator of the Keystone Cops, called “The King of Comedy’ by Hollywood, is born in Richmond, Quebec.


July 4, 1884 - Louis B. Mayer is born. He was raised in Saint John, NB and was head of MGM Studios.

 

1888 - Merton (Wesley) Plunkett, founder of the Dumbells, born Orillia, ON.


Aug. 2, 1892 - Jack Warner who would head up Warner Brothers studios, is born in London, ON.

 

Oct. 7, 1894 - Del Lord, one of the “Keystone Cops” and director credited with developing the comic style of “The Three Stooges” born in Grimsby, ON.


1889 - Ross Hamilton of the Dumbells, born in Pugwash, NS.


1899 - Albert Plunkett, original member of the Dumbells, born Orillia, ON.
